Russian Shoulder Knots

The rank insignia was to be placed on the trefoil area of the knots and the background color was to reflect the branch of service. The knots were made with 4 gold cords for Field Grade Officers and 3 gold cords for Company Grade Officers.

 Regulations set  the following standards for insignia placed on the shoulder knots:

Field Grade Officers:

Colonel: Silver Eagle

Lt. Colonel: Silver Leaf

Major: None

Company Grade Officers:

Captain: 2 Silver Bars

1st Lieutenant 1 Silver Bar

2nd Lieutenant None
